A fantastic compilation! :)
I've seen it many times at LP, but I generally don't like these mix things using just one big file so I never downloaded it...

Never heard about "Burrrn" before, tested and it worked very well, I can only recommend this program (and the comp. of course!).

Many thanks for compiling and designing! :)

(Sorry for my terrific english...)

I just want to say that it's not possible to download the compilations 2 at 5.

They say : LinkList not found.

Would be possible to fix these "little" problem ?

Thanks, à l'avance

Hey, what an absolutely fantastic blog, really one of the best I've found - thanks so much for all your hard work, I know these things don't do themselves.

Thought I'd let you know this link comes up dead though.

Cheers, Rico

Shock! Horror! Volumes 2 to 5 are gone!
Can you please repost them, since Licorice Pizza has sadly terminated?

Thanks to you and a few other bloggers out there I've become addicted to this kind of music.

And your blog is great, musically and graphically. It sends a certain kind of cool vibe :-)

Hi.

Great site!
I'm a big fan of spy music and I just found you. I feel like a kid with a new toy :)
I downloaded album 2 but the cue file doesn't come through.
I'd like to split the mp3 file. Is there any place where I can get it.
Thank you!!

I re-uploaded all of these after Licorice Pizza closed down his site.

I didn't realise until after that the cue file was missing from MTSB 1 but fear not!
I have spoken to LP and he is sending me the cue file.

I'll re-upload the it as soon as I can :)

Thanks for visiting and hope you enjoy your stay :)

I have this collection already from LP (and his others), I would love to get just your artwork. It appears that there used to be a link, but it is gone now.

THXjay said...

Hi Gahndalph,

I re-uploaded them all with artwork included!

Just download it and dump the music if you want.
Although if you have the rest of this series, the tags are all now matching :)

Thanks

Hi! I'm afraid the cue file is not incuided in the uplaoded file. I've just downloaded it and it includes artwork and a txt file with the tracklist (but not the timmings), but not the cue file.

Thanks for this great music and great blog!

THXjay said...

Sorry, my fault!

Fixed the link, it now includes the elusive cue file :)

Hey THX Guy,

I just wanted to say thank you for your tireless efforts in uploading and introducing SOME of us to this music for the first time.

Wonderful comps. Everything great, but...

WHY the cue sheets? There are a bunch of reasons I wanted this stuff, especially for my ipod, but I DON'T want CD's. And these songs are all jammed togther in this file. I did figure out how to seperate them, but almost all of them begin or end in a horrible fashion.. I can't play these.

That said, only the first few after number one are ruined this way, which makes me happy. I LOVE these collections, that's why I complain. But as far as I'm concerned, Crime Jazz 2 to 5 are worthless to me, which makes me sad.

Thanks so much for all the work you do, but if it's ever possible it would be great if you one day could clean this up and offer number two thru five as straight ahead MP3 compliations, not puzzles that have no good solution.

I salute you, even though I was indeed quite frustrated.

Hi Justin,

As mentioned elsewhere (several times) those four discs were put together by Licorice Pizza and featured on his own site (no longer online). I was so impressed that I made covers for them to fit into my collection (with his permission of course) and that's the way he created them.

He mixed them to be listened to as a continuous whole rather than dipped into like today's mp3 generation seem to :)

The CUE sheets are to allow the burrrn program to label the individual tracks for media players but they really should be burned to disc, after all that's why I spent all that time designing covers for them!

Each to their own I guess!

Thanks for the kind words on the collection Justin. I hope you enjoy the remaining volumes of mine, and maybe, if I ever have time, I'll add some more volumes in future :)

Jay

Hey Jay

Now I get it. Great work as I said. I really love these discs, and the audio is spectacular.

Sorry to rag on the licorice pizza discs, I was never a CD guy, but for many I'm sure they're just fine.

Great work. Beautiful site. Thanks again.

THXjay said...

No problem Justin,

I know these mixes are a "love 'em or hate 'em" type of thing. I know that poor Licorice Pizza used to get a lot of flak on his old site about them, which is pretty ungrateful seeing as they are essentially freebies!

I hope you enjoy the rest of the series :)

I may be adding new volumes in the future but I'm terrible for getting distracted by other projects and leaving current ones. You never know, if I find the enthusiasm, I may even revamp the whole set at some point!

Stay tuned!

Jay

Hi Jay,

Just wanted to say that these mixes are some of the best things I've found on the internet in recent memory. They encapsulate everything I love about the easy-listening, lounge and spy genres. Your work is amazing greatly appreciated!
